India's Longest River Ropeway Inaugurated In Guwahati
Assam Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Siddhartha Bhattacharya on Monday inaugurated the country's longest river ropeway that will connect two banks of the Brahmaputra river. The cable car will take about seven minutes to take passengers across the river from North Guwahati to Guwahati. The cabins have been imported from Switzerland.
The ropeway was built at a cost of Rs 56 crore, and will cover a distance of 1.8 km bringing down the travel time between north Guwahati and the central part of the city to eight minutes.
It will help in not only promoting tourism but also make commuting easier, state Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said after inaugurating the ropeway.
