Late Policeman's Daughter Cracks IAS, Makes Father's Dream Come True
Sweety Sehrawat's father, Delhi Police constable Dale Ram Sehrawat died in a road accident in 2013. 7 years later, his daughter is doing him proud by fulfilling his dream. In 2017, Sweety resigned from her job of being a design engineer to study to become an IAS officer. Now, she has cracked the exam.??
She secured an All India Rank of 187 in the UPSC exam, as per a report in Indian Express. Her mother Kamlesh and Brother Harish were overjoyed, needless to say. They spread the word among friends and relatives.?
“It wasn’t easy because the subjects were new; I had different subjects in school and college. I was studying at an institute in Rajender Nagar but that didn’t help. After my first attempt in 2018, I quit coaching and studied humanities, geography and world history on my own. Last year, I wasn’t nervous because I knew I would clear the exam. It was only on Tuesday that I was nervous because everyone was asking about the results,” she told Indian Express.?
Before this Sweety worked at NXP Semiconductors in Delhi.?
Commissioner of Police SN Shrivastava congratulated her and said her father would have been proud of this accomplishment.?
The family resides in Rohini. Dale Ram was 51 when he died. He had joined the police in 1989.?
"She was preparing for the civil services but couldn’t concentrate on her studies because of the job. We thought that she wouldn’t be able to take the exam. But once she started earning well and saved some money, she left the job,” said Harish.?
Harish is a sub-inspector with the CISF posted with the Delhi Metro.?
Sweety's achievement is special as she gave up a lucrative job to pursue her father's dream. No doubt Dale Ram will be looking from above and smiling as he sees his daughter take on the world.
