Behold! Another Statue Is Coming, This Time World's Tallest Hanuman Statue In Birthplace Hampi
Over the past few years, India has become obsessed with statues, that too the 'world's tallest' of its kind. Ever since the 182 metres-tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also known as Statue of Unity was inaugurated in October 2018, there is a race to outdo it.
Currently, the Statue of Unity which was built at a cost of Rs 2,989 crores is the tallest in the world, but it is facing tough competition from two under-construction projects - the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue in Mumbai which will stand at a height of 212 metres and the statue of Lord Ram, in Ayodhya which will be 151 meters tall with a total height 225 meters.
Now there is a new statue on the way. This time, in Hampi, Karnataka, where 215- meters tall statue of Lord Hanuman is proposed. Though it won't be in contention for the title of world's tallest, the 215 feet- statue will be the ‘world’s’ tallest Hanuman statue, according to the Hanuman Janmabhoomi Trust in Hampi.
The ancient city in Karnataka is believed to be by many as the same place which was known as Kishkinda, the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. According to The New Indian Express, the copper statue of Lord Hanuman will be equal in grandeur to the Ram statue in Ayodhya, which will be the world’s tallest Rama statue.
Since Rama and Hanuman were inseparable, they decided to put up the tallest statue of Hanuman but 10 feet shorter than Rama’s. As of now, there is no clarity on details including when the construction will begin or complete or the cost of it.
Currently, the tallest statue of Lord Hanuman is the Veera Abhaya Anjaneya Hanuman Swami is a Lord Hanuman statue, located in the Paritala town Near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh which stands at a height of 41 meters.
This also comes just a few days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 63-feet tall statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. The 'panchaloha' statue is the tallest statue of the leader in the country, which has been created by over 200 artisans over a year.
Last year, the Maheshwaram Sri Shiva Parvati Temple at Chenkal in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram had inaugurated the tallest Shiva lingam in the country, standing at 111.2-feet.
Another proposed statute, a 114-foot statue of Jesus Christ, the tallest of its kind in India, which was to be built in Harobele village of Karnataka's Kanakapura, a predominantly Christian locality has landed in trouble after opposition from the BJP and several Hindu groups.
