I Joined Ex-RJ Sukriti's Podcasting Session Online & It Was 60 Mins Of Creative Fun I’ve Been Craving!
Did your teachers call you ‘talkative’? Or were you the designated chatter-box of the group? Well, high-five and welcome to the crib!?This weekend, I decided to channel my love for talking into something constructive and joined the MensXP Experience on ‘Tips To Start A Podcast’.?
A yoga lover and believer of all things healthy, I find my chatty self indulging in intensely optimistic and woke discussions with my friends. So I figured, a podcast might just be a stepping stone along the way. And what's not to like when you have the powerhouse of talent, an ex-RJ and all things bubbly Sukriti Chaturvedi to guide you through it.??
While we all started the session with a notepad and pen, Sukriti made a hearty entry by saying, “Please treat this as a fun Saturday night chat session”. And that’s exactly what we did – laughed, learned and interacted for one hour straight.
Do I Have A Podcast-Worthy Voice?
Sukriti made it clear at the very start – content is king! The key to making your podcasts stand out is originality and a subject that resonates with you. ?“The best radio shows are the ones which the host is enjoying”, she said. The session included a mixed bag of potential podcasters – some wanted to highlight women empowerment, a couple wanted to endorse healthy living, and the best of all – an HR who wanted to get candid about his experiences at work.
Another thing she emphasized on was the TG - know your audience and tweak the lingo and content accordingly. Planning a podcast on women rights? Too much sarcasm might be a bad idea, interviewing local women however might get your podcast soaring!??
Then We Played A Quick Game
The first hurdle of every aspiring podcaster is picking
a topic! Sukriti made us jot down our unique abilities, likes, dislikes among
other things and helped us find our niche. ?In the course of guiding us, she shared
rib-tickling (yet insightful!) anecdotes from her radio days – which not only
gave us clarity but also confidence.
Power House Of Positivity!
if I’m busy, I’ll join your next session to say hi and hear about your experiences”,
said one of the attendees. That’s the kind of positivity I’m talking about! Sukriti
brought us all at the same level, cracked jokes every now and then, brainstormed
with us about various podcast topics, and made sure each and every person in
the session took away a happy memory.
We wound up the session with a fun Q&A round – equipment related queries, podcast thumbnail, podcast length, the value of teasers, and the episodic layout – we discussed it all! My favourite takeaway - don't break your head over the name of the podcast. Keep it relevant and simple -something that rolls off the tongue easily. We happily recalled, "content is king!"
In a nutshell, my first Online Experience ticked every expectation I had in mind and more. MensXP Experiences offer a range of other sessions too – right from baking like a pro to mindful yoga and smartphone photography. Which one are you planning to join first?
